Modoc
The Modoc territory encompassed all of Lost River, Clear lake and Tule lake and the southern portion of Klamath lake, past the falls. The Lost River and its system of lakes and marshes was their main homeland.The Modoc Indians focused primarily on twining to make their baskets from the surface fiber of tule or bulrush.

with a design of Captain Jack (Kintpuash) Modoc Chief The basket is decorated with seven portraits of Capt. Jack. He served as a major leader among the Modoc in the siege of the Lava Beds War of 1873. He was taken by the US Army and sentenced to death.
